Women in Finance

Roots to Froots hosted our first face to face Women in Finance networking event at the CIMA HQ. There were laughs, cries, food, drinks, knowledge sharing, reflection & I left feeling empowered & connected to the women I interacted with.

Thank you Dorothy Musariri for beautifully moderating the panel & the inspiring panelists for sharing their insights.

Sarah Ghosh FCMA, CGMA Future CIMA president

Clare Bentley Commercial Director at giffgaff

Hema Sharma Head of Finance Virgin Media O2

Barbra Mutamba Company Secretary

Key takeaways:

🤑 while the gender pay gap is improving, there’s still a long way to go. Let’s be brave and raise any concerns, challenge the status quo, and be allies to make the finance industry more inclusive.

🫠 imposter syndrome is a real phenomenon, but it’s really just self-doubt. Let’s change our mindset and have confidence in ourselves and our voices. Remember, we all deserve a seat at the table

🫱🏻‍🫲🏾One major theme was the importance of diversity and inclusion in the industry. Let’s be inclusive when recruiting, seek out diverse perspectives, and set goals for diversity training. Together, we can create a more equitable finance industry.

🗣️Be an ally

Major shout out to Nicole Smart (Assoc. CIPD, ACIM) for providing the venue and safe space for us to have this discussion. Loved her keynote speech as she shared her journey as a woman in the corporate world.
